Forced Sewer Information
A select few of our customers are in areas equipped with a forced sewer system.
Forced sewer systems use pumps to move wastewater through pressurized pipes, allowing sewage to travel uphill, across flat terrain, or through areas where gravity flow is not feasible.
If your residence is part of our system that requires forced sewer, you will have a grinder pump located somewhere in or around your house. A grinder pump is a wastewater pump equipped with a cutting mechanism that macerates solids into a fine slurry before pumping them into a pressurized sewer main. This pump is the responsibility of the customer to maintain. Typically, somewhere in your residence you will have a grinder pump control box that looks similar to the one in the image below.

If the red light on the control box is illuminated, there is a problem with your grinder pump. If this happens, it is best to contact a licensed plumber to inspect your grinder pump.
